 GRAPHIC  LOGOTM

VERSION 4.4 for WINDOWSTM

Graphic Logo was developed by a group of researchers from Argentina (South America).

The original Spanish version nowadays was available too in English, Spanish and Portuguese languages.

Nowadays more than 300.000 Latin American children enjoy working with this modern version.

The action-oriented programming resonates very well with the modern culture in which computer games and computer-generated animation are commonplace.

This new Logo version allows user-friendly programming of all kind of events that really allows kids program their own games. It was presented at Eurologo 97 in Budapest (HUNGARY)

Geometric paradigm versus Physical paradigm

This LOGO version was developed with emphasis on simulations and a special animation mode called "simultaneous animation"  because mechanisms employed working with animation (and Physics ) are as valuable as those of the Turtle-Geometry are. Besides, the work with animation is more resonant with child culture as it resembles video games.

Furthermore, animation mode adds dynamic and kinetic contents to the already known math contents of the turtle geometry and allows children to explore through simulation some physical laws and the behaviour of real bodies. For example the elastic collisions and the effect of friction and gravitation.

Many of the characteristics of the real world have been taken into account for the design of Graphic Logo and its primitives in order to help those programmers who want to represent reality through the computer.

In its developing it have been considered many previous versions such as TI-Logo, MSX-LOGO, Commodore-LOGO, WinLOGO, LogoWriter , Apple Logo and MicroWorlds.

Children experiment with gravitation and its laws. Simulations allows varying gravity force with sliders and buttons.

Others features

CREATION OF BUTTONS:
We can create our own buttons. There are 2 types of buttons: the Windows style buttons and Special Logo buttons.

To define a button we type one of these following commands:

SetButton  :title   :procedure :width :height
SetLogoButton  :procedure :ShapeNumber1 :ShapeNumber2

In the last case we must create 2 shapes that represent the button when is pressed and when is not. The button is placed when the turtle or the current sprite is.

HISTORY OF A LOGO SESSION: There is a feature that allow teacher to register all the class session with children who type commands in direct mode and save it later with a proper filename. This is interesting to analyse the students reasoning especially with handicapped children.

HIGHLIGHTING OF PRIMITIVES: You see that when we type a command that is recognised by the program it turns blue, if not it remains black. This helps children to debugs easily their procedures.

It has the following features

Handling of 60 Sprites of 256 simultaneous colors.

Physical microcosms included (speed, acceleration, collision detect, friction, gravitatory attraction, oscillating movements, etc.)

180 Shapes of variable sizes (up to 125 x 125 pixels).

13 and 18 Button Toolbars in Direct or Command Mode.

It allows to import scanned images with up to 16.7 million colors and convert them into shapes or backgrounds.

Import and export screens of .BMP and .PCX format.

Powerful shape editor (simmetries, zoom, blocks, ect.)

It run sound files (.WAV and .MID) and .AVI video files

Primitives for parallel serial ports and joystick handling.

On-line help in editor or command mode.

It allows user friendly programming of all kind of events such as:
oncorx, oncory, onbump (collisions), onkey, onbutton, oncolor, ontime, etc.

   Primitive highlighting.

Possibility to record the "commands history" of each pupil.

Creation of 2 different kind of Buttons and Scroll bars.

   Run-time for educational software developers.
